The spot was perfect, but the bathroom was infested with bugs—dead ones in the tub and live ones on the ceiling and walls.

The place was filthy, with dead insects on the window sills and under the vanity, and stairs and walkways littered with garbage and cigarette butts; the room carried a cigarette smoke smell, unsurprising given the big pile of butts just outside the door, and it seemed to house several people. Cleanliness and room layout could have been better, as one side of the bed was blocked by furniture.

The room was comfortable and quiet, yet there was no phone and the water was only lukewarm.
