The meals were really good, the in‑room bath offered an exceptional view, and the facilities were clean – a super relaxing stay overall. The staff was mindful of my comfort and treated me with great care. I would have liked a bit more explanation from the staff about what we were eating and how to use the baths properly – probably a language barrier issue.

The terrace view and the private onsen balcony at sunset were amazing, even on a cloudy day. The room was spacious and the massage chair was a nice extra. Dinner was absolutely delicious, with a huge amount of food, and breakfast was equally generous and tasty, even though I could only manage a little of it (still full from dinner). Service was also very good. I accidentally left something behind in the room, and the staff kindly arranged to send it to another address in Japan by cash on delivery, which I really appreciated. The outdoor onsen was lovely, but once it got dark there were so many insects that we couldn’t really use it. Dinner felt slightly rushed at times, as the next course would arrive before we had finished the previous one. For sleeping, I would have really appreciated blackout curtains, and a way to cover or switch off the surprisingly bright green light from the air conditioner. An eye mask solved the problem, though.

It was a layover for us – there’s nothing in the area worth seeing. Birdwatching and the non‑swimmable lake. Very friendly staff. The location.
