The staff were genuinely friendly and went out of their way to help, and the spot is perfect for grabbing a bite or hitting the nearby shopping centre. Unfortunately the shower in our room wouldn’t work and we even spotted a cockroach, which put a damper on things. All in all, the location and people were the high points, but the room maintenance left a lot to be desired.

I booked this place because I’d stayed at the same chain back in Huangshan and liked the low price and the lively reception ladies, even though their English was limited—we managed with a translator. They bumped us up to a room that turned out smoky, just like the one in Huangshan, but they swapped it out when we complained, which I appreciated.

The spot is in a decent area and gave us a private bathroom, which was a relief after a long journey. Things went south when we arrived to find our reservation canceled and struggled to get help because the staff barely spoke English. They eventually found us a room, but the place was filthy—cigarette butts littered the lobby floor and the room reeked of smoke. It was a disappointing stay despite the convenient location.
