The Lokanga Boutique Hotel occupies a 1930 traditional Malagasy residence atop the royal hill in Antananarivo's historic heart, near the renovated Queen's Palace. Five unique suites offer breathtaking views, antique furnishings, and modern comforts. The restaurant's 180° panoramic terrace serves Malagasy, Mascarene, and European cuisine, with a Malagasy tasting menu and sundowner aperitif. A small green garden provides a serene oasis.

Staying at this hotel feels like sleeping in a museum—lovingly decorated with many beautiful details. The terrace offers a wonderful view over the entire city. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The food was decent, not great. The location was shocking—dirty streets, beggars, and drunks everywhere, too many stairs, and the decor was old. The bath didn't leak, though.

A real old-fashioned hotel, everything is original, the furniture in the rooms and common areas, and the view of the city from the restaurant terrace is very striking. Some details are missing: there is no shower, and in the bathroom the small mirror is placed too low to use. The bathroom door doesn't close, which is a bit embarrassing.
