Beautiful location, great restaurants on site. This entire resort is designed around children. That’s great for some people, but was marketed to us as a high end luxury resort. Although it had great food, all pool and beach bars with the great views closed at 5pm. Hard to enjoy a sunset from a bar in the lobby

The beds are nice, but the hotel sold itself as a luxury property at luxury rates and you end up paying extra for real luxury—like a shady pool lounger. Regular seats are first‑come, first‑served and deliberately scarce. If you want a reserved shady lounger you pay $200 a day, otherwise you have to wake up early to fight for a spot. The place is crowded, the front desk never answers the phone and the valet never shows up. The game room is always closed. In short, you get a standard room with a pricier mattress and a packed pool; you could get most of that (minus the mattress) for half the cost elsewhere.

The central location is great, the beach is nice, the view is good, and the exchange school is solid. The huge hotel complex is too noisy and lacks personality, and the Humuhumu restaurant is overhyped, overpriced, and serves tiny portions of mediocre quality. The restaurant staff are not very service‑oriented. The pool with slides and everything is overcrowded like a theme park, and there are many babies in the water, so the water quality suffers. Valet parking is the only option and it costs $80 a day.

The room was spotless and the grounds were beautiful. It was very busy, and my kids are now teenagers; this place would have been perfect for them when they were younger.
