The staff are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good with a lot of choices. The location is wonderful, with a beautiful view of the lake and a lovely garden and pool. Nothing to complain about; everything was as expected. I can’t think of any improvements. One tiny point: there was no safe for personal belongings.

The view from our room and balcony was outstanding; we were high above the lake and could see the whole mountain range on the other side, plus most of the lake itself. The garden and grounds were beautiful, and the internal decor was remarkable—richly ornamented with high‑quality materials and entirely in keeping with the 19th‑century Victorian origins of the hotel, yet not heavy or gloomy like many such interiors. (Don’t go here looking for modern design.) The public areas and dining terrace overlooking the lake were delightful. The staff were, without exception, attentive, cheery, and very pleasant. We had no air‑conditioning in the room, and the weather was hot, but that seemed in a way appropriate for the style of the hotel and was acceptable. There was a small problem with a shortage of staff for one meal, but all those present worked extremely hard to compensate and were suitably apologetic. The hotel is a long way above Montreux, but there is a mountain railway station nearby if the drive is a bit arduous.
