Hotel Elephant Park, located opposite the Ma-Oya River in Pinnawala, offers riverfront rooms with elephant views. The hotel features a restaurant, room service, and tour desk for excursions to Kandy and the Temple of the Tooth. Rooms have flat-screen TVs, minibars, and en-suite bathrooms with bathtubs. Colombo International Airport is a 2.5-hour drive away, with pickup services available.

We arrived early, even though check‑in starts at 14:00, we were in our room by 11:00 and could rest after a long flight; the staff were very courteous and did everything possible for our comfort.

The spot right in front of the river where elephants bathe is fantastic. The restaurant’s no‑smoking rule was a problem for us, as we would have liked to eat there but found people smoking nearby.

The staff were friendly and everything ran smoothly; the hotel’s location is great—elephants are visible from the room, dining area, or pool while bathing in the river, and they walk past the hotel to and from the river. The only issue was that there were no towels in the room, but you can request them and they’ll be provided.
