The receptionist was very pleasant and the rooms had a lot of character, feeling truly rural with a nearby dog‑walk, a village church that rings its bell and a school of bell‑ringers, plus a pub that serves generous portions in the evenings; on the downside, the server never tried to speak slower even when it was clear we didn’t understand, and while it’s dog‑friendly, it isn’t exactly French‑friendly.

The area is beautiful, and everything else is good.

I never got breakfast, the room was filthy, there was only half a toilet roll, no milk, and very few tea and coffee sachets. A constant odor of old cooking fat from the kitchens and soot from an old open fire in the room lingered, and the toilet was dirty. For what we paid, it was poor and we couldn’t even park on the premises. If these things aren’t available, they should be communicated.

The room looked nice, but we weren’t told we couldn’t use the car park even after I called beforehand. There was nowhere safe to store my case, so I had to drag it halfway across the villa, but nothing of value was in it. In the room we only had half a toilet roll and had to ask for more. No fan on a hot day and the staff didn’t feel welcoming.
