“Charming Hotel with Peaceful Eastern Shore Vibes”
The property is a gorgeous historic building that just got a fresh coastal/nautical makeover, making it perfect for a romantic escape or even a family reunion or wedding. Everyone from the reception desk to the rest of the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. There’s a whole range of activities—sauna, pool, bikes, kayaks, bocce—and many guests are out enjoying the scenic surroundings. Outside, there are cozy seating spots, some under breezeways, where we watched a wild thunderstorm. The room came with thoughtful touches like soft robes, throw blankets that you can take to the beach or sauna, and even a black towel in the bathroom for wiping makeup. Pets are welcome, so plenty of dogs were around, which I liked, and the food and drinks at Ticklers were solid. Breakfast and coffee in the morning were a nice bonus, especially since there isn’t much else nearby. The room was a Queen “suite” with a water view but it was very small, with a tiny bathroom. It did have a small table and two chairs that we appreciated and used a lot. It was nicely decorated and comfortable, just on the smaller side. The property has many stairs and uneven surfaces, making it tough for someone like my elderly mom with a walker. There’s no fridge or microwave, so keeping meds or baby milk cold could be a problem, and leftovers from dinner can’t stay. We brought a cooler to keep a few drinks cold, but it would be an issue for a longer stay. I also felt the room was a bit pricey for what it offered. The hotel sits at the end of a quiet little island on the Eastern Shore with very little around, so bring snacks, drinks, and supplies—you’ll need them.
