The bone‑sake of the Iwana over the hearth was excellent. Talking about the local area with the family staying in the same lodge and hearing the host’s stories about mountain life was also great. No complaints.

The spot is naturally amazing, tucked in a village with few tourists, in a well‑preserved building. The hosts’ welcome was outstanding, truly. Their kindness was extreme, and the meals were excellent. I have no criticisms of the accommodation.

Staying in a gassho‑style house gave a unique feeling. It’s affordable. The food was home‑cooked and tasty. Because it’s an old house, you can’t reach the washbasin or bathroom unless you go through the current floor, which might bother some people. That’s not a major issue. It’s ideal for a family‑friendly, social trip.

Compared to Shirakawa‑gō, the walk was quieter. The couple was very friendly, which was nice. No problems.
