Proximity to the beach and the Sea Hear Now music festival at Asbury Park was a big plus, but it was super expensive, for my taste. But I knew that going in.

The spot was perfect, the bicycles were in good condition, and the towels, chairs and umbrellas were all fine; the staff were the nicest and most helpful, though I didn’t like the restaurant, which I know isn’t owned by the hotel.

The manager was exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond, but the rest of the staff left something to be desired.

The staff were welcoming, the wine hour was a highlight, and the quiet, elegant atmosphere was a plus, yet the temperature controls were confusing: a wall unit for heating and a separate remote for cooling meant all adjustments should have been on one device to reduce confusion, in my view.
