Federation Gardens & Possums Hideaway Blackheath features 8 acres of tree-lined lawns and gardens, a tennis court, and a heated indoor swimming pool. Located 15 minutes from Echo Point and The Three Sisters, and 20 minutes from Leura's boutique shops and cafes, this Blackheath retreat offers self-contained cottages with kitchenettes, air conditioning, and gas log fires, as well as a children's playground and shared laundry facilities.

The heated pool and tennis court were great, but the food at Blackheath & Katoomba was awful; the property itself was fantastic value, though we wished for Wi‑Fi and a smart TV to stream Netflix or Stan.

We adored every detail of our visit, especially the fireplace beside the bed and the whirlpool, and the cozy seating spot tucked among the trees—can’t wait to return!

The pine cottages are superb, with excellent shared spaces like a games room, volleyball court, outdoor chess, and pool; the expansive grounds let you wander, barbecue, or sunbathe, and the lounge and bedrooms are spacious with strong hot‑shower pressure and a good selection of classic movie DVDs. Jess, the property manager, is very friendly and welcoming. The location is a bit far from the main shops on foot, but with a car it’s convenient to everything. The only note is that the pine cottage bathroom is small and old, though clean, which wasn’t an issue for us.
