The quiet and the location were good, but unfortunately the bed linens were black, which I don’t like, so I checked out because there were no light linens available. It’s a shame because it’s a very nice place.

The area and beach were decent but not at this place; I never saw any breakfast smoke or any staff that could be considered a kitchen; there were signs about a bar at reception, but it was a dead, empty fridge; the beach was fine but not at this place, the promised beach chairs were either absent or what remained resembled broken wooden chairs; the room had a closet that smelled like mildew; black mold covered the whole house; everything was damp and moldy, affecting personal belongings like clothes, backpacks, bags, shoes, etc.; the bathroom was also moldy, even for personal items; if you tried to dry your stuff on a clothes rack in the sun, you’d have to move it regularly as the sun moved; theoretically you could dry your stuff on the beach while bathing, but after 8 nights of 24, I got tired and moved; I talked to the owner, who apologized saying that’s just how it is to live in a jungle; a new room was offered but I didn’t even consider it; in my view it’s a mess from an owner who has unfortunately lost control; it doesn’t work to run a place with more than 20 houses when you’re only three people; this place is not even recommended for a night; a security issue, and if that can apply, there was a fire extinguisher but it was so rusty that I was doubtful about using it as a doorstop.

The bungalow was well‑placed, fully equipped, and incredibly quiet.

The resort sits right next to the beach and you can spot plenty of wildlife – a bat colony, a troop of monkeys, and many toucans. However, the bungalow was nothing like the photos on the site; everything was outdated and dirty. There was no hot water, the door wouldn’t close properly, a beehive was hanging from the ceiling lamp, a rotting apple from the previous guest lay under the bed, the fridge dripped at night almost ruining my camera, and there was no air‑conditioning. The missing AC would have been tolerable if the windows could be opened at night, but the diesel generator of the neighboring resort runs from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., making it feel like a truck is parked beside the bed. There was also no pool as advertised. A bungalow for 300 Baht a night would be too pricey, yet it cost a staggering 1100 Baht, which is outrageous. We foolishly paid for four nights in advance because the island was fully booked and we didn’t know what we were getting into. After two nights we abandoned Koh Payam since there were no other options. The refund for the last two nights was denied. There are better bungalows in the resort, but you must be very careful when booking and explicitly request one closer to the sea; the farther back you go, the closer you are to the generator.
