The house is a large cabin with comfortable beds. It’s in a picturesque village full of history and very quiet. The hosts were extremely kind and helped us carry our luggage because the house is reached through many alleys. We ate at their restaurant on a terrace overlooking the valley. Everything was fine; if you have mobility issues you’ll struggle with the stairs and alleys, but it’s the most typical place we’ve stayed in Calabria.

The owners were friendly, the room was large and the price was good. There are good local dining options nearby at reasonable prices, and the air conditioning is quiet. The room is offered with breakfast, but they actually provide coffee pods, tea, crackers (a one‑year‑old expired box we threw out), and packaged brioche. No juice, yogurt, milk, etc.—overall it shows little care. For the price it was expected. During the day the sun hits the window and you have to keep everything darkened.

The place is simply amazing—authentic Italy without the tourism. The locals are the friendliest people in Italy. We liked everything! However, you shouldn’t be afraid of winding roads and you should know Italian (the dialect really tests you 😀). Keep it up, dear residents of Cardeto!
