Everything about the stay was amazing—the location, the view, and the lodge. It was clean and tidy, the kitchen had everything needed, the hot tub was clean and well kept, and the garden was also well maintained. I found nothing to fault.

The scenery was gorgeous, but the garden was infested with rats, and the hot tub was unusable because the chlorine level was so high it actually hurt your eyes.

I headed there hoping to fish at Peg Lake, but it was overrun with weeds and none of the four other guys I talked to could fish there either; I ended up going to the office and finally managed to fish on Rudd Lake for £7.50 a day. I tried to contact the lodge owners, but the lady said someone would come to look but never did, so I won’t book that lake again. That’s why I give the stay a 10 even though the fishing was awful. The beds were comfy and clean, the kitchen was decent, and the carpets could use a proper cleaning.

The site itself is nice, but the caravan carpets really need a thorough clean and the jetty and decking around the static need repairs; otherwise it’s a lovely place. Just be aware of hidden costs like the site pass and fishing permits.

The lodge was spotless and comfortable, and we had no issues—everything we needed was there. Since this was a client holiday, it was a relaxing escape for them. There was nothing to dislike; the guys we brought along were happy and relaxed, ticking all their boxes.
