Riverfront Ryokan, Ōzu, offers family rooms with tatami floors, private bathrooms, and mountain or river views. Each room features air-conditioning, a work desk, and free toiletries. The on-site restaurant serves Japanese cuisine amidst a serene garden. Amenities include free parking, a public bath, and a tea and coffee maker. Located 58 km from Matsuyama Airport, near Ikazaki Kite Museum and Ozu Inariyama Park.

We, a family of four with kids aged 12 and 15, stopped here for a night on our road trip and it was perfect. The house felt like a real experience and the meals were lovely. The kids enjoyed the toy collection and paddling in the river, even though they were older. The setting was beautiful, a nice break from city stays. I have to highlight the host who went above and beyond, sending directions to avoid the mountain route, emailing suggestions for the next morning, and otherwise being brilliant. The staff made the whole stay great.

Beautiful location, it’s next to a river and near a waterfall. We were the only guests during our 3 night stay so it was very peaceful and consequently we had the public bath to ourselves. You must have the BBQ at least once. The food was delicious and plentiful. The staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to help. The manager, Ken Kira was very helpful with our itinerary. He even researched and booked a sake brewery tour as well as a soba noodle workshop at short notice. The guest house is located deep in the mountains and if you are not comfortable with narrow windy roads you should follow the instructions given by the manager. However it is still a convenient base to explore many historical sites. As it is a converted school house, the toilets are at either end of the corridors. It was a little chilly in April. However I would still recommend this guesthouse

The staff were very helpful and understanding, even speaking English to give me recommendations on where to go next. Arigato gozaimasu!! I was the only guest that night, so I had the whole place and onsen to myself—definitely a treat! The only downside was that I didn’t stay longer.
