There was a sewage smell in the bathroom.
Everything was great; nothing to complain about.
The setting is gorgeous, with a pension and a garden that includes a swimming pond, and the breakfast is good. I found the mattresses a bit too hard, which isn’t an issue for others, and the sauna was inaccessible to other guests.
“No better place to stay in the Lednice area than this beautiful retreat”
The photos don’t capture how much nicer the hotel and garden actually are; we stayed in a bungalow at the end of a meticulously trimmed garden and everything was more than perfect. The garden offers plenty of spots to drink or read, and there’s a sort of poolhouse in the middle where you can work on a laptop, read, or have a drink (honesty bar). The pool is beautifully set among trees, bushes, and flowers. Breakfast was extensive and the breakfast room very cozy. Most guests are cyclists, and practically every car in the parking lot had a bike on the back. The region is flooded with cyclists, even in mid‑September, and we’ve never seen so many on the roads. The castle and town center of Lednice are a walk away, as is the bicycle tour along the triangle: Lednice, Valtice, Breclav. The route is very varied and sometimes technical, passing through forests, fields, and tracks with coarse gravel; the town passages can be confusing due to lack of signage and occasional traffic hazards, but drivers in Hungary and Czechia are very respectful of cyclists. Because Lednice is very touristy, we went to Valtice for dinner. Valtice has good restaurants with simple food, but if you’re hoping to visit the church there, you’ll be disappointed—no church in Czechia is open. Also, restaurants in Valtice use the American tip system on their payment terminals, forcing you to choose 10, 15, or 20 % tip, which is wrong since tip and service are included in the price here. We adopt a lot from America, but some customs are better left there. There was nothing about this hotel that I didn’t like; it was perfect.
A big problem was the lack of evening and night lighting in the corridor, as well as in the parking area and courtyard.
