This place is a hidden gem, a diamond in the rough, tucked in the middle of a village yet wonderfully secluded. There’s a long stretch of private beach where you can watch whale sharks from shore. Owner Ralph is always around and passionate about his work. The food is incredible, with a huge variety of dishes and drinks. On 13 May 26 we joined a whale‑shark tour and saw a whale shark and manta rays! The setting is peaceful and serene, yet you can still hear the village’s music and karaoke. It’s definitely a spot I’d gladly return to, worth the complex journey to get there.

“Easily the best place in the Philippines to Swim with the Whale Sharks Ethically”

Pintuyan Dive Resort is possibly the best place in the Philippines to ethically spot and swim with whale sharks. They carefully ensure the sharks aren’t disturbed during interactions and handle any required permits. The staff are lovely and the food options amazing. You can also rent all the gear you need for diving or snorkeling. Highly recommended. One of the most fun moments is the dinner when all guests dine together at a big table—an admirable social experience with people from around the world. The only downside is the resort’s remote location; getting to and from major cities like Cebu or Manila is tedious and expensive, so keep that in mind.

Great location and amazing food. Joannah is kind and friendly, and all the staff are nice; special thanks to Michael and Jonny, our captains on the tours. Nothing to complain about.
