The surroundings, rooms, and details were beautiful, but at check‑in we didn’t feel welcomed and received no information. The pool was closed at first but later opened, and the cleaning wasn’t very good.

The location was fine, but the indoor climate was terrible and the welcome service was poor. The room hadn’t been cleared of dust or cobwebs, and the door to the hallway never closed properly – you could still see light leaking in. In the bathroom the floor was filthy, the walls were covered in visible plaster dust, the tap leaked, the shower grout was blackened (possibly mold), and the holder for toilet paper didn’t stay put, nor did the towel rack. Breakfast was a huge disappointment and didn’t match the description at all. In the dining room the chairs were dirty with old stains, and glass shards sat under a table for two days even after staff were told about them. All the lights in the corridors were crooked. The swimming pool water was cold, the room was very humid, and the ceiling and walls had black spots that looked like mold.

The freshly baked buns were tasty, but there were no napkins and the coffee was under‑brewed for the number of guests. Dinner was delicious and the staff were friendly, doing what they could with the resources available. However, a bit more professionalism would help – when you pay extra for a castle stay, your expectations rise. If toilet paper, napkins, a new cheese‑cutting blade, or anything else runs out, someone should fetch replacements so guests don’t notice. At check‑in we weren’t told where the swimming pool was, and it wasn’t locked, so we had to return to reception to have the door opened.
