Holiday Inn Cleveland - South Independence by IHG

The location was convenient, but the check‑in process and booking were frustrating. I was booked for two beds, got only one, and the wait to check in was so long I just wanted to sleep. I ended up sharing a bed, which was uncomfortable. The sheets were dirty and had a funky smell. The breakfast was the only bright spot; the host was super sweet and the food was fresh, so I was glad to leave.

They swapped our room to two full beds even though I had booked a king‑size for more money. It was our honeymoon, and we were told the hotel was overbooked and that guests who didn't book directly get downgraded first. The manager eventually gave us the original room for the remaining two nights. They handed us coupons for a free buffet breakfast, but it was inedible – the scrambled eggs were rubbery, the pancakes were impossible to cut with a fork on the edges, which was disappointing.

The breakfast at Michael’s Grille was great, with a live band one night and a DJ the next. The room was clean, the shower was excellent, and the bed was very comfortable – I love it here.

I booked a room and received confirmation; when I arrived my card didn't work, so I withdrew enough cash from the ATM in the lobby. The front desk refused cash payment (why was the ATM there?), and the supervisor was called in and denied me both the cash payment and the room. I was left on the street in the cold as a stranger in a foreign country…never again Holiday Inn… 😳
