The host really cares about his guests, thinking of many little details. The air‑conditioning unit in the room can also heat, and there’s an extra electric heater in the shower. I didn’t need either, but they’re handy during transition seasons. The place is spotless, which makes me feel comfortable. I had to look for it several times from different angles, but it was worth it. Beautiful nature‑close beaches with rock steps and freshwater showers are about 2.5 km to the southwest. The beach near the station is quicker to reach but less natural. The sea is close enough for a quick swim. It’s a good mix of exploring the Roman old town, admiring Mediterranean plants in the park, and a beach holiday. From early spring to late autumn there’s plenty of activities. In the entire old town of Split I saw paper, glass, and plastic bins, but no compost bin, even though humus is scarce in Croatia. I hope the biomass eventually returns to the natural cycle. Locally everything was collected together, but I don’t know how sorting proceeds afterwards. I’d definitely advise asking about this before booking in Croatia and encourage the host to promote the return of bio‑waste for nature and climate protection. Split has a farmer’s market where you can buy truly ripe vegetables.
