The atmosphere feels like a family home, very cozy, with friendly staff and a lovely pool, but the TV only had one music channel, the area feels a bit like a neighborhood, and there’s no hot water when needed.

John was incredibly kind and gave great advice, helping us book the bus to St Marta, and the bed was very comfortable. However, the hotel is in a not very safe or even dangerous area, with nothing special to do nearby, and locals regularly offer drugs. The surroundings are populated by drug users (crack, cocaine). There was a birthday party at the hotel that started at 9 am, with an unbearable noise level that made conversation impossible. The room had no window and the bathroom window faced the hallway. There were a lot of mosquitoes and foul odors around the hotel. A major negative point was a 24‑hour bar playing loud music nonstop, making it impossible to find a quiet moment. John is an exceptional host.

“A Wonderful Stay in the Heart of Local Cartagena torices”

I had a wonderful stay at Casa Turística Real 12. The cleanliness was excellent and truly one of the things I appreciated the most. The rooms are cleaned every day, with fresh sheets and towels, and the cleaning lady is incredibly kind and friendly. The hotel is located in a very popular and beautiful neighborhood of Cartagena, which allowed me to experience the true local culture of the city. The people in the area are very warm, friendly, and welcoming, with that genuine Caribbean spirit that makes Cartagena so special. I really enjoyed feeling part of the real Cartagena rather than just staying in a tourist area. The location is also very convenient. There are supermarkets and local stores nearby, including Ara, D1, and Megatienda, as well as several local restaurants. Santa Rita Market is also close by, where you can experience more of the local atmosphere. Marbella Beach is about a 10-minute walk away, while the Historic Center is approximately 1 kilometer away on foot and only about 5 minutes by car. John and Diana are excellent hosts. They are very attentive, kind, and welcoming, and they made me feel completely at home. I also loved the dogs at the hotel. There is a very old dog who needs a little extra patience, but it is clear that he is cared for and loved very much, which I found really sweet. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at Casa Turística Real 12. The cleanliness, location, hospitality, and authentic Cartagena atmosphere made my stay very special. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again. It truly felt like a home away from home
