“It was a great resort for the final night of our three-day road trip from KZN to the Western Cape.”
Since this is self‑catering, we made our own breakfast. The kitchen facilities are excellent; the gas stove and microwave are easy to use, and crockery and cutlery are provided. Future guests need to know that no food is supplied, so they must bring their own supplies including firewood, kindling, firelighters, and matches. The host is a wonderful storyteller and can keep you entertained for hours with fascinating events from his life and his experiences as a state prosecutor and senior advocate. On the other hand, if you want quiet time, this is the place for gentle walks in the beautiful garden, not overplanned, not manicured, but a garden that brings you close to nature. Two things made our stay less than perfect: the water in the bath and shower was lukewarm, even though the other taps (sink and kitchen) were hot and comforting; we reported this to the owner, but he and his handyman about the farm could find no explanation, even though they checked the connections, etc. The second thing is that we would have liked some salt and pepper in shakers, readily available to guests.
