The walk from the town centre was short and pleasant, not a steep climb as I had feared, and it was on our route so we could head out early. The night was quiet, just what we wanted, and we slept blissfully. We explored the grounds and the swimming pool, and the staff were friendly and handed us fresh water for our hike. Thanks for everything.

The easy walk into town without needing a vehicle was a plus. The bar closing at 20h was a downside.

I’ve stayed at Hôtel du Carmel several times before, so this visit was a let‑down. Since COVID, there’s no restaurant anymore, even though they still advertise “Hotel with restaurant.” The building keeps its charm and is clean, and the pool is still accessible, but it feels unsafe (you can find a spoon at the bottom of the pool). It’s a pity because it used to be a great place. Now it’s full of graffiti, grime, and shady pizza joints and bars—absolutely avoid it.

The building is really pretty and the grounds look well kept, but our family room was old and the long hallway was dark, dusty, and the pictures on the wall were crooked; the cardboard backing pulled out of the frames made it look shabby. I don't get why they don't replace them—some friendly paint could make a big difference.
