“Convenient.”
The hotel is centrally located within walking distance of shops, cafés, Salamanca Market, etc., but there are many stairs and no lift.
Location. All good
“Great Hobart stay”
The location is fantastic, just a walk to Salamanca and the wharf area, and the room was clean, comfy, and well equipped. The guest kitchen had all the usual tea, coffee, bread, cereal, and condiments for a quick breakfast. The downstairs restaurant served great meals, making this a very affordable and well-rounded stay.
“Grab a beer at the pub and hang out with some local characters.”
The ambiance was great, the history and staff were lovely, the room very comfortable, and the hotel offered various dining options; the pub was the best with good happy‑hour specials. The Battery Point location is beautiful to walk through, but the city centre is a little farther and may be a challenge for those with mobility issues.
“Great stay at Shippies”
The place sits right where you can stroll to Salamanca, the city, and the charming Battery Point lanes; Jackson and McRoss bakery is just a short walk away, and the pub renovation looks great. Parking is free and available, and the shared kitchen and sitting area were a real plus. We enjoyed a drink in the bar and dinner at the restaurant, and the food quality was solid. We appreciated the maritime history displays. We stayed Friday night and heard the bar and restaurant noise around 11pm, which we tolerated but might bother others. A small TV in the room would have been nice for watching from bed.
