We had a wonderful family stay at Mari Mari Dive & Lodge. A huge thank you to the whole team, and especially to Jess, who was so kind, helpful and amazing with our children. They absolutely loved her! She helped us organize our trip to the Mari Mari Cultural Village in Kota Kinabalu, including the transfer, and showed us how to enjoy the activities available at the lodge, such as kayaking, snorkeling and beach volleyball. The location is magical — right on the beach, surrounded by jungle, with no roads, cars or noise. The rooms and facilities are simple and practical, but fit the character of this beautiful remote lodge perfectly. During the day there is no electricity or Wi-Fi; these are available in the evening and throughout the night. We actually loved this — it was a wonderful way to disconnect, slow down and enjoy quality family time. The food was delicious and authentic local cuisine. We also loved the kittens, monkeys and cute goats! 🐒🐐 Small tip: meals are paid separately, so bring enough cash as card payment isn’t available. We loved our stay and would definitely come back! ❤️. Some rubbish can wash onto the beach depending on the wind and currents, but the team works incredibly hard every day to clean it up. A huge bravo and thank you to everyone!

The structure itself is stunning, comfortable, well‑maintained and full of activities to do. The dining service is fantastic and affordable. The staff is extremely kind, caring and always ready to help. A great place to spend a few relaxing days. If you’re under 20, there’s also a PADI center included in the lodge. The beach, perhaps because of the bad weather in the days before, was full of trash. The lodge staff kept cleaning continuously, yet it was hard to enjoy the sea. There are no trails to move around the island, so unless you do long kayak trips (on the days we were there there was wind and it wasn’t possible), you’re forced to stay in the same bay all the time.

I loved the peace and quiet of the resort … exceptions though with long‑tailed macaques, local goats and very friendly ginger cats 🐈 😻 Wonderful sea view room with balcony. Snorkelling equipment available free and kayaks. Great food, wonderful staff so knowledgeable. Plus PADI dive centre…I didn’t use this but seemed busy. I had a peaceful calm stay highly recommend. Had to pay for food separately so take enough cash. Expensive if you add food and travel to Island. Rubbish evident especially in the mornings but staff doing a great job collecting it.
