Located 7 minutes' drive from Derby centre, Kings Highway by Marston's Inns offers a restaurant, bar, and 24-hour front desk with free Wi-Fi. Rooms feature flat-screen TVs, tea/coffee facilities, and en-suite bathrooms with bathtubs or showers, hairdryers, and desks. Continental and cooked breakfasts are served daily, along with traditional pub food and ales. Free parking is available on site, near Kedleston Hall and Pride Park Stadium.

Kings Highway was quiet and in a good spot for our visit to Derby. When we first entered the room, a funny musty smell hit us; opening the window helped. The soft furnishings had dirty marks, and the settee was badly worn—its cushions sloped steeply to the middle. There was no bedside cabinet on the right side of the bed. The bathroom taps were unusual and awkward: the lever started on the left, and as you moved it right, cold water flowed and got hotter as the flow increased. Overall, the room needs an upgrade.

The location was solid, and the staff were excellent, doing everything they could to make our stay superb and to our liking. Breakfast was just OK; we stayed in April and felt it was better then, with no black pudding or mushrooms this time—slightly disappointing on that front.
