The staff were exceptionally caring and attentive. The rooms were spacious, clean, and had everything I needed. Mosquitoes were abundant, so bring insect repellent.

We stayed at Moonshell residence in June and had wonderful days. A transfer from the airport to the island was arranged for us. On the island we were greeted by the hotel owner’s son, Naish, who ensured a carefree holiday. He was always available and any question was quickly resolved. We had booked a twin room but were given a Deluxe that included slippers, a bathrobe, a kettle, a coffee machine, a hairdryer, towels, shower gel, shampoo, and a hair conditioner. The hot water was always on. The bed was very large and comfortable. We ate on the second floor at the hotel restaurant. The food was tasty, varied, and fruit was always served. The restaurant staff were attentive, friendly, and helpful. The day before we left, my husband had a birthday and Naish organized an unforgettable celebration with cake and champagne. We flew back on local airlines to Malé. Naish booked our flights, arranged a private boat (the departure was at 6.40 and public transport wasn’t running yet), and personally drove us to the airport. I can confidently recommend Moonshell residence.

I can confidently recommend this family hotel with 4 rooms. We liked the convenient location – 3 minutes from the bikini beach, a clean room, shampoo, conditioner, bathrobes, slippers, tea, a capsule coffee maker, a fridge, and a balcony with a drying rack for swimsuits and towels. Breakfast was in a little roof‑top restaurant, and in the evenings you choose the type and time of service. On the beach there are personal loungers from the guesthouse, and although there aren’t many tourists, it’s great that you don’t have to fight for spots in the morning. Any questions or problems were solved by Vahid, the hotel owner. He helped us with a transfer to another island; on the day of our departure the ferry was cancelled, Vahid coordinated with our second guest and a speedboat, and we ended up getting a private boat, with the room free for the extra time. We went on a turtle tour via the guesthouse. The home reef also has plenty of life – we saw angelfish, an octopus, and a huge number of fish; the reef wall is close to shore, so beginners can swim, though sometimes there’s a current after lunch. Bring snorkeling masks, or the hotel will lend them if you don’t have any. The island left a very pleasant impression. It felt like we were visiting relatives.
