The Château is thoughtfully decorated. We stayed in Peggy’s Room on the ground floor. Each room has a stove, fridge, four burners, a microwave, and a dishwasher. The “secret western wing” offers a gym, a bar, and a garden. In the shared kitchen you chat with other guests and exchange tips. The rental team always responded to requests. We spent a week there, but never met anyone from the rental team in person, which would have highlighted the personal feel of the place.

The décor is dark and quite striking, though that’s a matter of taste, and the check‑in and check‑out were smooth. The shower wasn’t clean, the floor was slick, the toilet flush was hard to use because the water flow was weak, and both the sink and coffee machine were awkwardly positioned.

The vibe and authenticity and the connection with other guests were great. The Wi‑Fi was unstable, the room lights flickered, and there was no coffee left. In case of fire, it’s a real hassle to open the door with a key.

Booking didn’t show how it really is. At arrival we got a key via a code. No one was there. Parking is a nightmare – no spot. The hotel sits next to a cemetery. We didn’t stay. The room wasn’t clean. After emailing, we got a story but no refund. Unfortunately, that could have made a lot better.

The experience was original in a place with soul. The communal kitchen was appreciated. Before arrival, communication was only in Dutch. There isn’t much outdoor space or a real spot for bikes.
