Location. Quick contact with the owner. Bedding was clean. A hanging outlet was dangerous. Coffee and tea facilities were for one person while you booked for two. Odd, bad curtains. TV without a remote. Floor and pipes on the ceiling were dirty. It was booked including all taxes, yet you still had to pay an extra 10 €.

The quiet location near the city and the beach was ideal. Friendly service (upon request we were given an extra bed for the child). I would book again (now I know what I’m doing :-) ). A pre‑information about contactless check‑in would have been helpful, otherwise I had to call to get the information and the code for the key box. Minor renovation work would benefit the pension. On arrival, a local contact giving brief information would have been nice for me as a newcomer to Borkum.

I stayed there for about 4 hours before heading back home, and after returning I contacted the local business inspection authorities in Aurich and Emden. The place feels like a barracks and is utterly unacceptable.

The breakfast offered good value for money and the central location was convenient, yet the room felt worn, no housekeeping was provided during my stay, the TV didn’t work, and basic details like Wi‑Fi were missing.

The staff were very friendly, but the overall facilities were outdated with worn furniture, an unusable shower, mold, zero hygiene or safety, exposed sockets, a half‑torn curtain rod, exposed cables, and an unlit entrance area.
