Chateau Appony, a 16th-century Renaissance mansion, is nestled in Oponice, 20 km from Nitra. The hotel features a wellness area with pool, hot tub, and 3 saunas, plus a historical library with 17,000 Baroque-era books. Traditional Slovakian and Mediterranean cuisine is served in the restaurant. Rooms have flat-screen TV, minibar, and air conditioning (on request). The hotel is surrounded by an English-style park with on-site tennis courts.

The staff were very friendly, but there was no elevator.

The setting, castle, library, breakfast, and staff were all good. The bed was very uncomfortable, the mattress too soft—felt like a literal waterbed.

The castle’s food was amazing and the staff were very friendly. Nothing negative at all.

Everything was fine. Because a wedding was happening that night, there was a lot of noise all night; we were woken up every half‑hour, but I understand that it was just the room’s proximity to the reception on that particular date, not a hotel fault.
