The New Inn

The staff were friendly, the bed was comfy, and breakfast arrived earlier than the posted time, thanks to the pleasant lady in charge. The only hiccup was that the TV wouldn’t turn on.

“Pleasant and clean could do with a re fresh”

Parking was convenient, the food was excellent, and the staff were friendly. The room itself was dated but clean with a comfy bed; the stair carpet could use a good shampoo and the walls and bannister need repainting. I didn’t get a window—just a door onto the fire escape—so solo travelers might end up with the least pleasant rooms even when paying full double room rates. A chair would have been nice.

The place had a lot of flaws: the pool room’s exterior door was in bad shape with uneven steps, the stairwell to the room was cramped, and the common areas—including the stairs—looked grubby with peeling paint. The carpet in the room seemed cleaner, but the edges near the skirting needed vacuuming. The bathroom felt tight because of the roof pitch, so I avoided the bath; there was no toilet roll holder or shelf for toilet bags, and the shaving mirror light was broken. Breakfast cutlery and glassware looked greasy, as if the dishwasher hadn’t rinsed them properly. Overall, the New Inn seems popular but clearly needs a makeover.

The location was very quiet with a large, secure parking lot. The bathroom amenities were outdated.
