The staff were friendly.
“DO NOT STAY HERE! THE COST SAVING IS NOT WORTH IT!”
Besides a friendly French girl I met, the view and the fridge were the only good points I could mention, but I couldn’t enjoy the view because I was uneasy being alone with the owner. DO NOT STAY HERE! The property promised free internet, yet there was no working connection during my stay. The host said it was too expensive to fix and that it wasn’t worth calling someone out because the tourist season was ending. I needed internet for remote work and to watch a friend’s funeral, so I had to rely on mobile data, which caused the live funeral to buffer and forced me to go to cafés for Wi‑Fi to work. He even asked me to try fixing his hotspot on his phone as if I were his personal technician. Talking with the host made me uncomfortable. Before I arrived he commented on my appearance and sent personal messages/emojis. During my stay there was frequent loud shouting, and when I asked for quiet he told me I could find somewhere else if I was unhappy. I ended up staying a couple of nights at a friend’s place in Cala Gonone because of this. He also made me mop the shared bathroom floor after showering as if I’d created a tsunami and was his personal cleaner. Before my stay the host suggested I cancel, pay him directly and “obviously don’t tell.” I didn’t cancel because my booking was non‑refundable. Because the platform wouldn’t let me book an extra night even though the room was free, the owner and I separately agreed that extending my stay by one night would cost €31.50. When it came time to pay, he told me to pay €63 or that I needed to leave the following morning. I therefore booked alternative accommodation and left. The surrounding area is beautiful, but my experience with the accommodation and host was stressful and uncomfortable, and not being able to view the online funeral really affected my holiday and left me with immense guilt. Everyone in Dorgali knows each other and locals even noted that this man is hostile and strange and shouldn’t be hosting.

As a solo traveller I didn’t feel comfortable for several reasons: there’s no mention anywhere that the middle‑aged owner lives in a separate room just off the guest corridor; he invited me to wash fruit in his apartment and asked personal questions; it’s called a Bed and Breakfast but there’s only a bed; the sponges he uses to clean the bathroom look very old and worn; I slept only one of the two nights because I wasn’t at ease, and the next day I received two calls on my private number that I didn’t answer—he’d preferred to write me through the booking platform. I reread reviews and found that two German girls in 2024 were also uncomfortable with the owner’s advances. The only female travellers who stayed alone were accompanied by a man. So if you’re a woman or a girl travelling solo, don’t make the same mistake I did. Check that at least one woman has stayed before and don’t rely solely on reviews or the cheap price.
The accommodation is very pretty, always clean and well maintained. The terrace offers a truly magnificent view of Dorgali, which is a real plus. The location is also great. It’s better to have a car if you want to get to Cala Gonone easily and explore the surroundings. Gigi was very kind and welcoming, gave me excellent tips on places to visit and activities to do in the area. I recommend this place.
