The spot for dining and strolling around Monopoli is great, but the bed isn’t comfortable and there’s no free parking as booking claimed.

It was a nightmare! The booking was taken by a certain Mariella Amodio who sent me to a place with a toilet full of feces; I noticed it while showering, grabbed my stuff, and left because I was disgusted. I even took photos and sent them, then got insulted by the lady and the owner, who discriminated against me because I came from a small countryside town. This is a situation for complaint, and I don’t wish anyone to meet that kind of people!

The location and surroundings were excellent.

The tiny street and being in the old town were perfect; Monopoli is a must‑visit and this place puts you in the heart of everything. A warm welcome came from the host’s colleague. Free parking is 15 minutes away, which is similar to other spots in Puglia. The place was spotless and newly renovated. The sofa‑bed was surprisingly comfy. The location is great. On the downside, there’s no outdoor area and the accommodation sits below street level, so it was naturally cool but damp, and there was nowhere to dry a swimsuit. The bathroom ceiling is low – my husband is 5ft 8in and couldn’t use the overhead shower. It’s a tight squeeze overall, but if you just want to get your head down it’s fine. The bed was a sofa‑bed and might benefit from a proper double. Free parking is a 15‑minute walk away, and you can drop your bags at a car‑stopping spot within 5 minutes. You can’t park a car on Vico Pugliese street.
