It was a good experience overall.
The room was lovingly decorated and the mineral collection was fascinating.

The owners were accommodating, friendly, and eager to meet our requests. It’s a family‑run operation that involves multiple generations, which felt very pleasant. They keep a high standard in both room cleaning and the excellent kitchen offerings. We stayed during the winter season and found nothing negative.

The breakfast buffet was large with homemade jam, the wellness area had a small steam bath and sauna, and the minigolf course right next door needed some refurbishment. However, as a hostel for hikers it does not offer a guest card (Murau Card) for discounts at nearby attractions, and in rural areas the usual annoying insects such as flies are present.
“It was truly enjoyable and we will be coming back. We loved Styria more than other high profile places like the Alps.”
