The hotel sits right in the town centre, and the staff were very helpful. The rooms had everything we needed, though there were no electric sockets by the bed and the floorboards creaked loudly, which was a minor annoyance.

The buffet was pretty good and the coffee was decent. When I ordered avocado on toast, it arrived at least 5/7 minutes after the rest of the family’s order and was bland and flavourless, so I didn’t enjoy it.

The staff were generally helpful and the location was excellent. I didn’t like the hot breakfast arrangement; I prefer a self‑serve style to reduce waste. The items were at different temperatures – the sausages were not cooked properly.

The menu offered good choices and the food was high‑standard. Coffee refills were not readily available, but that wasn’t a problem when I asked.

The central location and the bar’s great selection were highlights. However, there was no on‑site parking, and the rooms and decor outside the bar/restaurant area were so tired – bland, basic, with broken fixtures and fittings – and could be so much better with a bit of attention to detail.
