The hot water at Torikoshi (Bijo no Yu) was great, and the meals were excellent. The sashimi was served with Noto salt, grated ponzu, moyuga, ginger, and other condiments, which was refreshing. The craft beer and rice were all good. Because my mother has mobility issues, we were grateful for the accommodations: the room, dining area, and wheelchair. It was a memorable experience for mother and daughter.

All the rooms had high ceilings and were spacious. The staff were all very kind. The hallway was a little scary.

The location was amazing – it’s a bit of a trip to get there, but it’s absolutely worth the chance to escape the busy cities and immerse yourself in the rural side of the country. The staff were excellent – very helpful, kind, and accommodating – they even drove us back to the train station when we checked out, which was especially nice. The room was large, comfortable, and had a private bath, which was a major plus. Lush! The booking included dinner and breakfast, which is great if you’re a big seafood fan and adventurous eater. One dinner course was three whole firefly squid, a nice local touch, but not to our personal taste. Breakfast was underwhelming.

A magnificent ryokan with an onsen in the room and a view of the river. The meals were excellent, and we even received a small gesture for our honeymoon.

The room was exquisite with a stunning view, and it felt like we had time‑traveled to a Japan of the previous century. The staff were marvelous. Dinner and breakfast were great. The inn was exceptionally beautiful, and getting there via the inn’s shuttle bus from the station and the staff’s kindness was much appreciated. There is no real outdoor bath. If that matters to you, you might be a little disappointed. They have two baths and the water is silky with a high mineral content, but neither is outside, although one opens to the outdoors.
