“Preiswertes Hotel direkt am Bahnhof mit Schönheitsfehlern”
The hotel sits right by the station, which was perfect for us. The Wi‑Fi and air conditioning worked well. The room was small but quite modern and functional. It was quiet and clean, and could be darkened easily. A full‑length mirror was provided. The shower pressure was excellent. A socket was next to the bed. The bed was comfortable. The price was totally fine. The staff were very friendly. An elevator is available, which is handy with heavy luggage. Right next to the hotel there are cafés, restaurants, and shops. The police are always directly opposite the station entrance, so it should be relatively safe. However, even though we had told them our arrival time, no one was at the front desk at the agreed time and we had to call to get someone to open the door (there is no staffed reception, which we knew beforehand). Another guest had already been waiting outside the door, apparently having tried for a long time to reach someone at the hotel. Contrary to what was listed, there was no kettle and no coffee machine, so that should be updated in the description. A light in the bathroom was broken, making it quite dark there. The main reason I would not book again is that the heavy front door on the second floor can only be opened with the key and has no knob. The key also slips a bit and the door is hard to open. If it were to catch fire and you forgot your key or awkwardly try to unlock it, you wouldn’t be able to leave the hotel. In German hotels, doors leading outside should never be locked from the inside; you should always be able to exit without a key. This may not be regulated the same way in Italy, but it makes me uncomfortable when the exit is made difficult. The lobby on the ground floor is uninviting, with garbage around and homeless people in the hallway. The room itself is otherwise fine.
