The front desk staff were friendly enough, though they only spoke Mandarin, which made communication a bit tricky. Unfortunately the room itself was far from clean and the bathroom had a horrendous smell that lingered all day.

The apartment felt spacious and comfortable, which was a nice surprise. The only downside was that it sits a good distance from the city centre, so getting around required a longer commute.

Breakfast was just okay and the sea view was decent enough to enjoy a morning coffee. The building itself showed its age, the pool was closed, and the power cut out in the middle of the night, leaving the almost‑empty hotel feeling a bit eerie.

We were given a massive three‑bedroom suite with a huge open terrace, a great view of Haikou, and a small kitchen stocked with dishes—all for a reasonable price and right next to a riverside park. On the flip side, the whole complex looks neglected: the pools are dead, some rooms are being used as apartments, and the staff once warned us they couldn’t take us before later confirming everything was fine.

The hotel’s location is convenient, but that’s about the only good thing about it. The place was filthy—trash in the hallway, a dirty floor on arrival, and carpets that hadn’t been vacuumed in months—while the breakfast offered nothing but veggies and boiled eggs, and almost no staff spoke English.
