Hotel Porta Nuova, a restored early‑20th‑century villa, sits 30 m from Assisi’s historic centre and 200 m from Basilica di Santa Chiara. Air‑conditioned rooms feature flat‑screen TVs, minibars, private bathrooms, and either valley views or courtyard overlooks. The family‑run hotel offers excellent bus links, a panoramic lounge, terrace, and buffet breakfast with homemade cakes and cold cuts.

The place is well‑located, the staff are polite and prepared, there’s private parking, the room is large and spotless. The breakfast could be better, and the window faces a corridor with a door that feels like a hotel storage, which isn’t great for noise.

The location was good and the room was comfortable, but having to go up and down the stairs with our luggage was a hassle—at 74 and 71 years old we received no assistance. The breakfast was weak for the price charged.
