Avatar Peaks Resort

“NOT RECOMMENDED”

The accommodation does NOT match the listing on the platform. The photos shown bear no resemblance to reality. The property is extremely run-down, with a clear lack of maintenance. The room I booked was advertised as having a "mountain view," but what I got was a view of a terrace. During a five-day stay, the sheets were never changed, and the room was never cleaned. The room presents serious hygiene and public health issues: mold on the walls, and both nymph and adult cockroaches (signs of a pest infestation). is complicit, as it is aware of the situation yet continues to list this property as a 5-star accommodation

“Une parenthèse hors du temps, un pur régal”

Waking up with a cup of coffee overlooking the mist‑shrouded peaks of Zhangjiajie feels like a suspended moment; the service is refined yet relaxed, the bedding superb, and the absolute quietness is remarkable even though the site is nearby—everything delights the eyes and the heart.

“Wonderful”

The view and the Dino are great stuff.

Dino’s service helped us plan our days and handle tickets. He’s right next to the west gate of the Avatar Mountains park. The breakfast could use a bit more variety :)

“Very good”

The hotel offered a decent, comfortable bed and a very peaceful setting right beside the Avatar Mountains; the staff escorted us to the entrance. Wang Yalin, a Chinese guide, booked a trip pack for me and, in just two days, she showed me Avatar Mountain, Tianmen Mountain, and Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, knowing all the best routes so we saw a lot without wasting time. She only speaks Chinese, but we used a translator and had no communication issues. She was friendly, patient, helpful, and shared plenty of interesting history about the sites we visited, so I would definitely recommend her if you’re short on time. The hotel’s location is about a 70‑minute drive one way from the city, so I wouldn’t suggest staying for an extended period. There’s no light where the mirror is, making it hard to shave a beard, and it would frustrate a girlfriend trying to apply makeup. Ants and slugs might appear, but that’s normal for the area 😁
