Located 2 km north of Dovre town centre, off the E6 Motorway, Toftemo Turiststasjon is a historic 1820 hotel offering wooden-furnished rooms with seating areas, TVs, and private bathrooms with showers. The hotel features an on-site café, free Wi-Fi, outdoor pool, and garden with a children's playground and terrace. Hiking, cycling, and fishing are nearby, with Dombås 10 km away and Rondane-Dovrefjell National Park 30 km from the property.

What a treasure in the hotel world! We were a bit skeptical when we booked at a “tourist station,” but this place turned out to be fantastic. It’s absolutely worth a visit. If you’re just passing through, hop off the E6 and drop into one of the rooms in a historic building. If you want a nature holiday, there are plenty of trails and fascinating stories from centuries ago. The weekend was just too short.

The room was huge and the breakfast the next morning was lovely. The spot is ideal for a stopover between Østlandet and Møre or Trøndelag, with the river and E6 nearby and no traffic noise. We would have liked a slightly firmer mattress, but that’s a small detail.
