The location is just far enough from the busiest spots yet still within walking distance. It’s a bit tricky to locate, but once you find it, the view—even from the alleyway—is worth it. The stairs are very narrow; you have to step sideways and grip the rail, which makes moving luggage up or down a little hard.

The place sits on the edge of Gion, so it’s calm and quiet, yet still close to the main attractions in central Kyoto. It’s a traditional Japanese lodging that offers a great experience and comfort. It’s a bit pricey compared to regular hotels, but it’s worth it. Highly recommended.
