“Lovely stay”
Catarina was extremely kind and understanding, and the house was lovely; we enjoyed staying inside because the weather was bad for outings. The flights were a bit of a hassle.

Casa d’avó Maria, a charming country house in Seia, offers a single bedroom, bathroom, and family rooms, welcoming guests and their pets. Guests enjoy free Wi‑Fi, a balcony overlooking the Serra da Estrela mountains, a fully equipped kitchen, fireplace, washing machine, dining area, sofa bed, and private entrance.

The fireplace is charming but produces a lot of smoke, and we could only keep it lit with the street door open; the next day everything smelled like smoke, literally everything.

We were greeted warmly and felt a genuine connection to the house’s history; the materials inside are very fine—wood and natural fibre textiles (though not the bedsheets)—and a wood‑burning fire kept us warm throughout. However, the kitchen’s old traditional aluminum pots and pans fit the décor but aren’t the healthiest choice for cooking; I suggested newer ones and I’m sure the owner will upgrade them, as I’m a bit particular and usually bring my own cookware.

Catarina’s hospitality and friendliness are unquestionable, and the daily bread at the door and the delicious cheeses win anyone over; the little house is cozy and welcoming.
