We found the room very spacious and nicely decorated, but we were a little surprised and concerned when the hotel was closed upon arrival; however, the manager, Adam, appeared right at the designated time and everything went smoothly. He was extremely accommodating—he even warmed our dinner (the pub does not serve food now) in the microwave and served it to us on plates with utensils, which pleased us. The room was quiet except for the church bells, and although it’s a bit funky, it warmed our hearts and offered great value compared to other accommodations on the South Hams Way trail.

The room was fine, with everything you need. I was greeted bz Adam, who was very accomodating and friendly. However the lack of any food option was very disapointing. Although Adam did offer to microwave anything I bought from the local Coop. However, all this positive feedback was ruined. Being above a pub bar I expected some muffled chatter. I retired to bed at 9.30pm aftet a long day trekking on Dartmoor. Only, to be woken up at 11.50 pm by what I can only describe as several people having a full blown row, at the top of their voices. It sounded that they were in my room. It wasnt going to stop. I immediatly contacted Adam on the emergency number, having got dressed, to retrieve the number from pub landing. He said sorry, and that they were just 'finishing up'. Eventually, it stopped, and then they left, only to stand directly outside my room, and continue the conversation for another 5 minutes. The row was from drinkers in the pub. I had a 5 hour drive ahead of me the next day. I was and still am fuming over this. Totally unacceptable. The only acceptable resource is to give me a full refund. My asvice to futute guests thinking of booking, is dont. At least not in that room

The Pack Horse is a comfortable and affordable place to stay, but there is no food available and on a Sunday night there’s nowhere really within walking distance. The barman did offer to heat food if I bought something from the CoOp.

The authentic coach house/pub feels like home, though the car park has a tight entry.
