“Ci aspettavamo qualcosa di meglio”
The guesthouse sits just on the edge of Kuldiga’s historic centre and feels quiet and uncomplicated, with spacious common areas, a stylish and roomy reception, courtyard parking and a great breakfast and restaurant where we also dined; however, the room fell short of those promises—it was tiny, completely taken up by two single beds, forcing us to scramble for space for our suitcases, and the sheets were absurdly short, not even covering the mattress.
The rooms blend historic charm with modern touches in a way that feels very welcoming. On nice days you can enjoy the summer on the terrace or courtyard while eating and drinking. Conversations with the owner create a very personal vibe. Breakfast offered something for everyone, and it was delicious. All in all, this place comes highly recommended.
The location was ideal, and the on‑site restaurant was excellent, with staff worth praising. The room, however, was a nightmare—dark, damp, cold, and just plain uncomfortable, far from what the photos suggested. I probably wouldn’t have taken that room if I hadn’t already paid, and we ended up leaving a day earlier than planned.
The hotel is very nice and sits in a good location.
The bathroom was very clean. The bed sheets were torn, faded in color, and had an unpleasant smell.
