Located in a historic building, Palazzo Mascambruno in Cariati offers a unique atmosphere with a terrace, restaurant, bar, and free WiFi. The traditional restaurant serves Italian cuisine for lunch and dinner, paired with a wine selection. Rooms feature air-conditioning, city or sea views, private bathrooms, and free toiletries, along with soundproofing and work desks. Cariati Beach is a 13-minute walk away.

The room 305 was roomy and featured two balconies, a TV, air‑conditioning, Wi‑Fi and a minibar fridge, plus a spacious bathroom and freshly laundered, ironed towels and sheets. I must commend the owners, who clearly pour effort into protecting their investment and making guests as comfortable as possible; the B&B even houses a public restaurant with a lovely panoramic terrace. Unfortunately, the town centre bans car access from 21:00 to 02:00 and there’s no on‑site parking, so you’re forced to hunt for a spot outside the historic centre, and the B&B can’t issue permits for the tiny rear area. To make matters worse, we spent three nights without any running water because the municipality carried out scheduled works during the peak of Ferragosto, leaving us sweltering in tropical heat. Their 8,000‑litre tank simply couldn’t keep up with the demand of the rooms and restaurant during the busy hours from 20:00 to 06:00.

Eight years ago Dvaldi owned the place and other owners have dreamed of returning; they were wonderful. New owners have unfortunately let everything fall apart, though the village itself still feels like a dream.
