The hosts were unbelievably kind—felt like staying with friends—and they let us do laundry. The breakfast was very good, and they drove us to the city center, which isn’t walkable, but a tuk‑ruk is easy to find. The place is calm and the view is nice.

The location is great for visiting Lipton’s Seat and the Nine Arch Bridge, and the owner and his family are very friendly. It’s quieter than Ella. The hot water only worked one night out of two, and there was a lot of noise and loud music on the first night.

The view is sublime and the host is excellent. Staying in this family guesthouse in the heart of the mountains was a great experience; the hosts were attentive, the bedding comfortable, and there’s a decent bus stop nearby for the more adventurous. The mountain view is breathtaking.

The most striking feature of this property is the overwhelmingly beautiful view of the surrounding mountains, which is bathed in an amazing glow at sunrise. The family running the place clearly has a lot of experience and made us feel welcome right away. If I ever return to Hapatale, I’ll definitely stay here again. The dinner and breakfast food was delicious and freshly cooked. The only complaint is the size of the door to the rooms we stayed in, but they offered us another room instead.

We had the best stay ever! The owner picked us up by tuk‑tuk and gave us a lovely welcome with coffee and an amazing mountain view. In the evening we enjoyed a fantastic home‑cooked dinner and played UNO with the whole family. We felt at home and even had our own private cooking class. Whenever we have questions about what to do or about the trip, the whole family is ready to help. We’ll definitely come back.
