The hotel was luxurious, the food was delicious, and the bath area was relaxing and soothing; I liked the Showa‑era amusements and the fact that room keys weren’t cards. There were no negatives.

The view from the window was excellent, and the staff were very helpful, but the welcome drink was a bit lacking.

The dinner lacked a sense of volume.

The view of Ago Bay was quite nice, and we booked a larger room for comfort, which was fine. The shuttle to and from Kintetsu Kashikojima station was very appreciated. The hotel seemed dated, the dinner was decent but nothing special, and breakfast was basic. The front desk staff showed a real lack of warmth and hospitality compared to other ryokans like Kumano Bettei. We checked out in the morning, did sightseeing, and left our luggage at the hotel. When we returned for the shuttle, we had to wait for a later departure to match our train schedule. I asked the front desk if I could get a free coffee from the machine, but Wyatt (the staff member) refused, which was a first for me after traveling so much in Japan; however, he kindly let us wait in the lobby while we waited for the shuttle.
