“Súper recomendable”
The location is great, everything is spotless, fully equipped, and the staff are very friendly and help with anything you need. Everything was perfect.
The room had a fan and AC that worked well and kept the space cool, with ample storage and a good-sized bathroom that included a small separate shower area. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there was a cute dog. Value for money was great. Because the building also houses a restaurant, music plays until 10 pm, which isn’t too bad but can disturb early sleepers; my room was right next to the restaurant, so quieter rooms might be better. The power plug was a bit sketchy but manageable, and those are the small things.
The garden, terrace, and restaurant area are lovely, and the people running it are great—always polite with a smile. The bed was very uncomfortable and the blanket was tiny.
“Beautiful cozy room, wonderful staff but in tourist trap area”
The room was gorgeous and cozy, a real highlight after a week of questionable quality stays across the country. The staff were fantastic, letting us borrow snorkel gear and other items for free, and they even cut up and prepared fruit I bought elsewhere. They were generally very accommodating. The price was higher than I’d liked for Sri Lanka, but the quality helped offset that. It’s a bit of a walk from the bus stop, and nearby restaurants are all extremely overpriced, so you’ll have to go farther to find a more reasonably priced meal. Not the hostels’ fault, but something to keep in mind.
“Attacked by hotel staff”
I left the place! I arrived to find the room moldy and smelling terrible. I had paid upfront, so I left at midnight because it was unbearable. A hotel worker arranged a taxi to another hotel, a friend of his. The next day he appeared at my new hotel, accusing me of stealing a remote and other bizarre things. We had a heated argument. I wrote a review that he didn’t like. One day I was in a tuk‑tuk stuck in traffic when he attacked me, grabbed my arm, and tried to force me to take the review down. He insulted me badly and threatened me multiple times. I fought him off. We had a nasty argument in the middle of town. Since Mirissa is small and I wanted to rid myself of this dangerous lunatic to enjoy my holiday, I removed the review. Who wants to be stalked on holiday? I wanted to let it slide, but as I’m waiting at the airport and still get reminders to leave a review here it is. Don’t go there; the dreadlock guy working there is crazy and dangerous.
